Ok, I have been a strong fan of Toby Mac. For instance I woke up at exactly 12:00 this morning to buy this MP3 Album. I was so DISSAPOINTED with this album. This Album was HORRIBLE. I don't know what happened to Toby Mac, but he seriously changed. If this is your first time listening to him I suggest you DO NOT listen to this album first. Buy the album, Welcome to Diverse City, first because Toby's music style is truly shown in that album.
Here's a review of all the songs in this album....
TONIGHT: Um, more of the rocky side, it was kind of catchy, but I didn't like it really. I rate it 3/5 stars.
GET BACK UP: This one I liked, it was more acoustic but it was the catchy acousitc type that i like. I rate it 4/5 stars.
FUNKY JESUS MUSIC: I LOVED THIS ONE, this song is an example of the Toby Mac music I liked before (in Diverse City). This had Hip Hop flavor and it made you want to get your party on!!! I rate this 5/5 stars
CITY ON OUR KNEES: I liked this one. This version is sort of different from the Radio version that he relased as a Single in 2009 but pretty much the same. I love the message in this song too. I rate it 5/5 stars.
SHOWSTOPPER: Totaly a Rock song. But the type of rock I actually kind of like. Very Catchy, one of T's wildies. I rate it 4/5
CHANGED FOREVER: I didn't really like this one. And I expected to hear better from Nirva Ready, because in the song he did with her in "Portable Sounds" was the Hit of that album. The bridge of this song was the only part i liked because it actually sounded good. I rate it 3/5 and only 3 because of the Bridge. If it wasn't for that it would be 2/5
HOLD ON: I sort of liked this. This reminded me of OWL CITY type of music. You know like OWL CITY's song "Fireflies". This is my sisters type of music but i kind of like it so 4/5.
LOUDNCLEAR: I LOVED THIS!!! not only was it funny but Tru sings better music than his dad, (LOL his dad actually wrote this song), Totaly RAP!!! my kind of music. Tru-Dog is back with hip hop and he's raisin the roof!!!. 6/5 stars (if that's possible).
HEY DEVIL: I HAAAAAATTTTTEEEE THIS SONG... it sounds like Toby Mac was trying to be like LADY GAGA. It is sooooooo horrrrrriiiiiiibbbbblllleeeeee. I seriously think he was inspired by her or something. ZERO STARS.
WONDERN': This song is totaly unlike Toby Mac. Apparently Matthew (whoever he is?) inspired this song. It sounds more like a B-Reith song. I didn't really like this song. I rate it 3/5.
CAPTURED: I hate this song. I don't know what happed to toby mac but this song was unlike anything he did before. I don't how to explain what this song sounds like. I rate it 2/3.
START SOMEWHERE: I like this song... very agreeable. This has a latino flair, but it has the Toby type of music I remember. This sounds like one of those stomp-type spanish music you'd hear in Spain. I liked it. 5/5.
BREAK OPEN THE SKY: This had a Island flair. Some would say Reggae. But I liked it because i have Jamacian in my blood. Israel (Don't know who he is) sang his part well, and Toby added a great spiritual message in this song. 5/5.
CITY ON OUR KNEES (Radio Version): This is the orginal tune, the same as his City on our Knees single. Toby just inserted it in the end. 5/5.
Well I hope i helped you c this album as I did. Not very good at all. I hate when i have to pick and prod into an Album. In Welcome to Diverse City, there were only 3 songs i didn't really like. The rest was 5 stars all the way. I suggest to anyone who plans to buy this NOT TO BUY IT, but buy "Welcome To Diverse City".

This seems more like a B-sides of his previous 2 albums. Pretty much stuck to his formula's, again. Wake me when he does something new.

When I just left High School DC Talk was in my tape player. Been a fan over 20+ years.
Toby has been pretty much a safe place for me to let my kids run down their own party groove and rock out to be Jesus Freaks and never had to worry about something "sounding wrong". (Even if it isn't wrong, but sounds wrong, it is still wrong, Toby.)
Until now... with "Tonight"
So far I am not excited at all about:
Funky Jesus Music - "...Gimme that Funky Jesus Music; Gimme that Juicy Flow..." Really?!?! What does our Lord and Savior have to do with something Juicy?
Trudog 10 - LoudnClear - It sure does sound like he is rapping "we made love, we made love" but I think the lyric might be "we made loud"(?) which doesn't make much sense so - it just doesn't sound like something I want to hear come out of my 13 yr old's mouth while singing along. Might as well throw down some Rheanna and Lady GaGa in my girls hands.
The rest of the album is "OK" nothing skyrockets as awesome. I am sure CCM radio will play about 3 of these songs to death and make me feel like I am being tortured with the same songs over and over and one them has been City On Our Knees for the past 7 months. Sorry I am dissappointed.

The Great Songs Track 1 Tonight- Gets ya hyped up to renew your life with God (to a techno rock beat). Track 3 Funky Jesus Music- Great Gospel Hip-Hop. Shows how superior any music is with God. It takes you to another level because it touches you on that Spiritual Level as well as musically. Track 7 Hold On- When times get tough, keep lovin and keep your light shinin because with Jesus it will be alright. That simple and a smooth track to boot. Track 11 Captured- Awake or in a dream the power of Christ is there all around the believer and ultimately the more we plug into Him the more we want of Him.
The Lame Songs Track 2 Get Back Up- All this song amounts to is get up and it will get better. No talk of God or the Gospel, which can help you when your lower than the ground or that God can help you if you pick yourself up. Pretty lame. Track 9 Hey Devil- Not bad lyrically or Spiritually, just sounded stupid and corny. Track 10 Wonderin- Not feelin the music or the introspectiveness. This song is really only about his journey with DCTalk and doesn't translate to me so... Track 12 Start Somewhere- I'm sure this song will touch people with a rocky relationship but I'm not into hearing domestic disputes in my music.
Overall Solid again from Tobymac. Wish there was more hip hop but Every album lacks a little of one art form. I'm just happy he is pretty solid at everyone of them. Not many artists can do that. and I hope he continues with the techno vibe. I thought it added a lot to the album. Rock hip hop contemporary and now techno. It just gets better.
