The Chronic 2001
Album Description
2007 vinyl repressing of Dre’s 1999 opus featuring guest turns from Eminem and Snoop Dogg. Interscope.Amazon.com
Despite the number of guests on hand, Dr. Dre’s decade-/century-/millennium-ending sequel to The Chronic is, like its predecessor, less a stack of posse cuts and more an elegantly seamless work from West Coast hip-hop’s premier auteur. Deliberately cinematic in everything from its mix of moods to dramatic musical surges, 2001 is Dre’s assessment of the gangsta life in medium shots. No longer fully immersed in violence and random sex, yet aware of their attraction, he often lets his guests blow steam about whatever’s on their minds. When he takes stock of gangbanging circa late ’99, though, he… More >>

This is pathetic. I can’t see why everyone likes Eminem or Dre. They suck. All the songs on this album sound the same, except Still DRE, which is the only decent song on this! DON’T BUY THIS! BUY DMX AND JAYZ(way better by far! ) Ya das right

What up y’all I’m not really under 13 years old, I’m actually 20 years old but anyways onto the discussion of this “2001″ album, the reason why some people might be dissapointed from this is ’cause he uses ghostwriters and even has ghostproducers make the tracks for him. How could you be such a great artist if you ain’t that much involved in creating your album? I mean damn it took him so long between “The Chronic” and this album that you figure that he’d have more input making this album but no, like 2Pac said before Dr. Dre is fake, he’ll probably do the same thing on his upcoming “Detox” album too have all the G-Unit and D-12 punks write all of his lyrics and they’ll be on all the tracks and sell millions of albums from teenyboppers, hip-hop heads won’t be checking for it though, he’s become as predictable as Britney Spears, he probably doesn’t even brush his teeth himself, lol. And yes he doesn’t have much of a flow that’s why there’s so many rappers on here, most of them who are MTV rappers that make songs about drugs, bling bling, and sex all the time, so I advise you if you like all that this album’s for you but if you actually appreciate the hip-hop artistry stay away from this album and anything else he’s done in the last 10 years. I wish he would’ve kept Rakim on Aftermath and never signed 50 Cent and maybe the rap game would be better than what it is now.

The Chronic 2001 is one of the worst dr. dre albums ever produced, this is another reason why dr. dre hasn’t been the same since he left death row, the production is not as good as it was in the chronic from 1992, although there are a few good songs, but the rest is just godawful, he started paving way for feminem (aka the most overrated rapper of all time) and other stuff to come.
It was the major downfall of his career.
(Notice the napster thing)
Sorry Dr. Dre you are no longer my favorite producer of all time, in fact you been no longer since 1996
Just Blaze takes that spot now.
Dr. Dre has sold out and forgot about his long time fans
If you want a real dr. dre album, pick up the chronic.

The only relevance 2001 could ever have in a Dr. Dre title is to the fact that he says the same thing 2001 times: NOTHING!

Everybody who keeps talking about “this CD is an excellent follow up” to “The Chronic” and “Dre is back” needs to shut up with all that bull cuzz this CD sucks. This CD sounds like a weak compilation or soundtrack, not an album. To tell you the truth, I’d rather listen to some East Coast and Dirty South stuff like DMX, Eve, Juvenile, Lil’ Wayne, or Hot Boys, not Dre and his West Coast buddies. This CD is all hype and bull! Plus, the “Forget About Dre” is the worst attempt at his conforming to Hip-Hop’s status quo of bounce Hip-Hop! While Eminem is cool, Dre’s Eminem-penned flow is all offbeat and pretentious. This CD sucks! FFF-
